Extended information note on the use of cookies

COOKIE POLICY

This document is our cookie policy and we would like to explain what cookies are and what they are used for.
  1. What are cookies?
As specified by the Data Protection Authority in its FAQs of December 2012, cookies are small text files - made up of letters and numbers - “that sites visited by the user send to his terminal (usually to the browser), where they are stored and then retransmitted to the same sites the next time the same user visits”. Cookies have the function of streamlining web traffic analysis or signalling when a specific site or part of a site is visited, distinguishing between visitors to provide customised content, and help administrators to improve the site and the users' browsing experience. Through cookies, we cannot access any other information stored on your device, although this is where the cookies are downloaded. Cookies cannot load codes of any kind, carry viruses or malware and are not harmful to the user's equipment.
Below you can find all the information on the cookies installed through this site and the necessary guidance on how to manage your preferences in this regard.
  1. User consent to the use of cookies
When you first visit any page on our site you will see an information banner on the use of cookies that will allow you to manage your installation preferences.
The site remembers the choice made, so the information will not be repeated in subsequent visits from the same device. However, you always have the possibility to revoke all or part of the consent already given by clicking the Cookie preferences button.
If you encounter technical problems when providing consent, you can contact us by e-mail at the address you will find in the privacy policy link on our website footer.
  1. Duration of cookies
Depending on the cookies, they may be stored on your device for longer or shorter periods. Cookies can be:
  • session cookies, which are cookies that are stored persistently on your computer and are deleted when you close your browser. They are strictly limited to the transmission of session identifiers necessary to enable the safe and efficient navigation of our site while avoiding the use of other IT techniques that could potentially jeopardise the confidentiality of users' browsing;
  • persistent cookies, which are cookies that remain stored on the computer's hard disk until they expire or are deleted by users/visitors. By means of persistent cookies, visitors accessing the site (or any other users using the same computer) are automatically recognised at each visit. You can also set your computer browser to accept/reject all cookies or to show you a warning whenever a cookie appears, so that you can assess whether to accept it or not. You can change the default configuration and disable cookies (for example, block them permanently), setting a higher level of protection.
  1. Types of cookies
Cookies can be:
  • first-party cookies, meaning cookies with this website as the domain name
  • third-party cookies, meaning cookies that are related to external domain names.
Third-party cookies are necessarily installed by an external party, always identified as a third party and they are not managed by the site.
  1. Type of cookies
Regarding the types of cookies, there are several:

  • Technical cookies: these cookies are used for the sole purpose of carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide such a service (see Art. 122(1) of the Privacy Code).
They are not used for any further purposes and are installed directly by the Data Controller or the website manager. They can be split into:
  • navigation or session cookies, which ensure normal navigation and use of the website (allowing, for example, to make a purchase or authenticate access to restricted areas); they are in fact necessary for the proper operation of the site;
  • analytics cookies,(first party) they are similar to technical cookies where they are used directly by the site operator to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site to improve site performance;
  • functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a set of selected criteria (e.g. language, products selected for purchase) to improve the service provided to the user. Users' prior consent is not required for the installation of such cookies (more information in the section Cookie Management below).

List of cookie

  • Analytics cookies (third-party): this type of cookie is not used directly by the site operator, but is created and made available to third parties for statistical purposes. The site has no direct control over individual cookies and it cannot control them (it can neither install them directly nor delete them). However, you can manage these cookies via the settings you will find by clicking the Cookie preferences button at  any time.
  • Profiling cookies: these cookies are designed to create user profiles and are used to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user when browsing the web. The use of profiling cookies requires the consent of the interested party.  However, you can manage these cookies via the settings by clicking the Cookie Preferences button at any time.
